Animal Husbandry employee arrested with pistol in Rajouri, says police

Rajouri: Police in Rajouri district on Thursday claimed to have arrested a government employee, working in the Animal Husbandry department along with a pistol and six bullets.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Chandan Kohli told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that on Wednesday late evening, an accident took place when a car bearing JK11B-9271 driven by Jasvinder Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh of Nonial Nowshera skidded off the road at Chatta Siot.

“Soon after the accident, a team of police rushed to the spot for legal formalities, but the driver of the vehicle started to escape from the spot,” SSP said.

He, however, said that the police team chased the driver and managed to detain him and found one pistol and six bullets of 7.65 mm calibre in his possession.

“The accused was arrested from the spot and a case under relevant sections of law for carrying an illegal weapon has been registered while further investigation into the matter is going on,” SSP said.
