Bandipora: Amid the District Development Council (DDC) polls held across Jammu and Kashmir, one of the candidates originally from Pakistan Administered Kashmir and contesting elections from Hajin-A Block of north Kashmir’s Bandipora, said that both India and Pakistan administrative Kashmirs are one and her own country.

The candidate, Shazia Aslam, currently backed by the newly formed ‘Yasir-Imtiyaz Alliance’ for DDC polls, was born and brought up in Muzzafarabad area of Pakistan administered Kashmir, and married to a Kashmiri militant who then surrendered and even participated in assembly elections later.

She made these comments while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an election rally held in Sadunara area of Hajin Bandipora organized by the former PDP MLC Yasir Reshi and Congress leader Imtiyaz Parry in support of the Shazia Aslam.

“I have come from PaK, my only aim is to contest DDC elections and work for better roads, pure water facility and other basic amenities for which the people of this area have been deprived since many decades,” Kashmir Dispatch quoted Shazia as saying.

“I am happy that I got a mandate to contest elections and work for the poor and downtrodden,” the newspaper quoted her further saying.

When asked which country she thinks is better for her, Shazia said that both Pakistan and India are better for her.

She added that wives of the former militants currently in Jammu and Kashmir who crossed the Line of Control through a rehabilitation policy should live their life with peace and dignity.
