Shopian: A military operation against militants has started in Kanigam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
As the joint team of armed forces personnel approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
A senior police officer also confirmed to a local news agency GNS about the exchange of firing between militants and armed forces personnel.
