2 UK Strain COVID cases detected in Kashmir, infected travelled from UK recently

Srinagar: Much to the dismay of valleyites who are already reeling from the heaviest snowfall in decades, two new cases of UK COVID strain have been detected in the valley.

A senior official at JLNM Hospital confirmed the two positive cases with the new strain of coronavirus.

“Two UK returnees have tested positive for the new strain. Both of them are asymptomatic and are being isolated,” the official told Free Press Kashmir.

In the UK, the mutant virus has led to an unprecedented surge in COVID cases.

Epidemiologists and virologists have found that new COVID strain or B117 virus is 70% more transmissible than the other strains.

It has been revealed that the spikes of the coronavirus with which they attach themselves to healthy cells have mutated. This helps the coronavirus infect cells at a faster rate.
