Notorious criminal carrying ‘sharp-edged weapon’ arrested in Jammu, says police

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a notorious criminal and recovered a sharp-edged weapon from his possession in Gharota area of Jammu.

In a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir News Observer, a spokesperson said that a police team of police station Gharota led by SHO Khyatimaan Khajuria while on naka duty at Kanger Talab rounded up a suspect namely Farman Ali son of Sher Mohammad, a resident of Keran Nala area of Jammu who was coming from Jammu on a motorcycle.

“On being searched, a spring-actuated knife (sharp-edged weapon) was recovered from his illegal possession,” the statement reads.

It reads that a case FIR No. 20/2021 U/S 4/25 Arms Act was registered at police station Gharota and the accused was arrested.

“It is pertinent to mention here that the accused was earlier also booked in case FIR no. 17/2017 U/s 307/323/34 RPC of P/S Gharota and also in case FIR No. 388/17 u/s 341/323/ RPC 4/25 Arms Act of P/S Domana,” it reads, adding further investigation of the case is going on.
