Ghaziabad: As India continues to reel under COVID crisis, besides its twisted off-springs the Black and White fungi wreaking havoc, now the first case of Yellow Fungus has also cropped up in Ghaziabad.
Reports quoting ENT Specialist B P Tyagi claimed that there is a patient of Yellow Fungus in his hospital, who is undergoing treatment.
The 45-year-old patient, a resident of Sanjay Nagar in Harsh Hospital, Ghaziabad, is suffering from yellow fungus as well as black and white fungus.
In a report by news agency IANS, Professor Tyagi was quoted saying, “A patient came to me, who after the initial test appeared to be normal, but after doing another investigation, I came to know that the patient is suffering from black, white as well as yellow fungus.”
“This fungus is found in reptiles. I saw this disease for the first time. Amphotericin B injection is used to treat this disease. It takes a long time to heal. This patient’s condition cannot be said to be very good, he is still undergoing treatment.”
According to Tyagi, as far as the symptoms of this disease are concerned, there remains sluggishness or lethargy in the body while there is less appetite, due to which the weight starts decreasing. Body wounds also heal very slowly.
Cleanliness is very important to avoid this disease, as infection starts off due to poor hygiene. The more you keep cleanliness around you, the more you can stay safe from this disease.
According to the patient’s son Abhishek, “His father was undergoing treatment for corona and he was recovering well. In the last two-three days, his eyes started swelling and suddenly they closed altogether. There was nose bleed and urine leak.”
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, India recorded below 2 lakh COVID cases for the first time since April 14 as 1.96 lakh fresh cases pushed the total cases to 2.69 crore. The deadly virus had also claimed 3,511 lives during the same time.
On Monday, Maharashtra witnessed 22,122 fresh coronavirus cases and 592 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to over 56.02 lakh and the death count to 89,212.
After Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of infections.
Karnataka, the second state worst-affected by coronavirus in the second wave, saw 25,311 new cases. Capital Bengaluru logged 5,701 infections, slightly lesser than the previous day’s figures.
Tamil Nadu saw a slight dip in daily Covid cases and deaths with 34,867 fresh cases and 404 deaths. 4,985 of the new infections are from capital Chennai.
Neighbouring Kerala on Monday recorded 17,821 new coronavirus cases amid a decline in testing. 196 Covid-linked deaths were reported today, the state’s highest single-day count.
Delhi recorded 1,550 fresh coronavirus cases, the lowest single-day tally since March 27, and 207 deaths on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most populous state recorded 3,894 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. 153 COVID patients died in the same period. It is fifth in the list of worst-hit states in India.
