Kulgam: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two accused of allegedly raping a woman in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a statement, police said: “girl (Name withheld) approached Police Post Mirbazar with a written complaint stating that she was wrongfully restrained and forcibly Raped in a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration No. JK18-9100 on NHW at Nipora near Petrol pump by a person which officials identified as Mudasir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Rashid Ganie resident of Banimulla with the help of another person namely Manzoor Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Mohd Naik resident of Gadool.”
The official further said that on receipt of the complaint, a case with FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 376, 109 IPC was registered in police station Qazigund and investigation was taken up in an instant manner.
On a tip-off, the police party arrested both the accused within half an hour after the complaint was received and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized. Further investigation of the case is in progress, reads the statement.
Pertinently, the district Kulgam has witnessed a number of such cases in the past as well and the latest one was reported a few days back.
