Eight COVID deaths reported in last 24 hours take JK’s fatality count to 4,246

Srinagar: Eight more people have died due to COVID in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.

Five of the fresh deaths have been reported from Kashmir Valley and three from Jammu division, taking the fatality count to 4,246, they said.

Among others, they said a 50-year-old man from Bijbhera died two days after he was admitted to GMC Anantnag.

A 45-year-old man died at CD hospital here, 11 days after he was admitted to one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients, officials said.

A 60-year-old woman from Kupwara’s Dardpora area, admitted to SMHS on June 18, died at the facility late last night, they said.

A 78-year-old man from Palpora Chatripora and an 85-year-old man from Chakoora died District Hospital Pulwama, they said.

An 82-year-old man from R S Pora Jammu died 11 days after he was admitted to GMC Jammu, they said.

A 37-year-old woman from R S Pora died two days after she was admitted to GMC Jammu, they said. One death has been reported at military hospital Aknoor, they said.

On Saturday JK reported 521 fresh cases, lowest single-day tally in 75 days, while 4 people succumbed to the virus, lowest daily fatality count in 63 days.

Last month was the deadliest as JK recorded 1,625 deaths. The fatalities in these 31 days accounted for 41.59% of the total deaths reported in J&K so far since March last year. Also, 114359 Infections were added to the overall tally during the month of May.
