Shopian: A military operation against militants has started at Hajipora village of Harmain hamlet in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday afternoon.

An official said that a joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of armed forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between armed forces and militants.
