Pakistan dismisses India’s claim of ‘drone hovered over Indian High Commission in Islamabad’, calls it ‘propaganda’

Posted on

On Friday, after the Ministry of External Affairs, India claimed to have spotted a drone over the Indian High Commission complex in Islamabad last week and said that it asked Pakistan to prevent recurrence of such “breach of security”, Pakistan government has rejected the claim and termed it an “Indian propaganda”.

“A drone was spotted over the premises of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on June 26. This has been taken up officially with the government of Pakistan. We expect Pakistan to investigate the incident and prevent recurrence of such breach of security,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said at a media briefing on Friday.

Various reports quoting India’s External Ministry statement said that the drone hovered over the High Commission premises where Indian diplomats and diplomats from other countries had gathered last Saturday for a party to commemorate “India @75”, part of the year-long celebrations to mark 75 years of independence.

In Pakistan, the Foreign Office dismissed the Indian claims of a drone flying over the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, terming them baseless.

“These preposterous claims have no basis in facts and no proof whatsoever has been shared with Pakistan to substantiate these allegations,” FO spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said in a statement.

“Curiously, this propaganda campaign by India is also happening at a time when evidence so far collected in the Lahore blast of 23 June is increasingly pointing to external forces with a history of perpetrating state-sponsored terrorism against Pakistan,” Chaudhri said.

“Pakistan rejects these patently false allegations and diversionary Indian tactics and will continue to stand by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for the right to self-determination, as enshrined in the UNSC resolutions,” the spokesperson added.
