10-year-old injured as ‘abandoned grenade’ explodes in Kupwara, say officials

Kupwara: A 10-year-old was wounded after an ‘abandoned grenade’ went off in Parraypora Kalaroos area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday afternoon, official sources said.

They said that the boy namely Zubair Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammed Khan was fiddling with the abandoned grenade lying in the vicinity of his house. The device exploded, resulting in injuries to the minor who was immediately removed to a local health facility for treatment.

Sources told news agency Global News Service that the police team reached the spot and have found another grenade there.

Meanwhile, investigations by the police officials are going on and facts are being ascertained.
