Srinagar: A day after journalists were physically assaulted by police while discharging professional duties, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Wednesday ordered immediate action against the police officer for “undesirable behavior.”

The DGP said that he has taken a serious view of undesirable behavior with some media persons in Srinagar yesterday.

“SSP Srinagar directed to take immediate action against the erring police officer,” the top police officer said.

On Tuesday, many photojournalists covering the 8th Muharram procession were physically assaulted by Jammu and Kashmir police personnel in the city’s Jahangir Chowk area. The camera of one of the journalists was also damaged during the assault.
