A Muslim man was assaulted by Hindutva men for entering the Hindu neighbourhood in Madhya Pradesh’s Govidnagar.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the assailants are angered by Muslim man, identified as Tasleem, meeting ‘their wives and daughters’ and selling bangles, Maktoob Media reported.

The Hindu men in Govidnagar in Indore also threatened Tasleem not to enter the ‘Hindu locality’ again.

Following Pratapgarhi’s interference and complaint by Tasleem, an FIR registered against the accused under the sections 34, 120-B, 141, 142, 143, 148, 147, 149, 153-A, 294, 298, 323, 395 and 506 of Indian Penel Code.

This was the second incident in the past week where Muslim merchants and salesmen were assaulted by Hindu right wing groups and were not allowed to enter ‘Hindu localities.”

Last week in Uttar Pradesh, members of the Hindutva group Kranti Sena conducted ‘surprise checks’ at a Muzzaffarnagar market to ensure that no Muslim man applies mehendi (henna) on the hands of Hindu women on the occasion of Hariyali Teej.
