New Delhi: India added 25,467 COVID cases, while the active cases declined to 3,19,551, comprising 0.98 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, according to the Health Ministry of India data updated on Tuesday.

The total tally of COVID cases has increased to 3,24,74,773. The death toll has climbed to 4,35,110 with 354 fresh fatalities.

Though Tuesday’s caseload is slightly higher than Monday, the fresh cases remain below 30,000-mark for the second consecutive day. In terms of fatalities, 354 people lost their lives due to various complications.

The recovery rate has also improved on Tuesday, the daily health bulletin said. India’s current recovery stands at 97.68 per cent, which is the highest that the nation witnessed since March last year. The active cases also remain much below the 4-lakh mark. At present, the country has around 3.2 lakh active COVID cases, the data says.

While the data may show a consistent decline in overall COVID numbers, the GoI has once again written to states to make sure that the local curbs are in place to avoid any corona cluster or outbreak during the festive season.

The cumulative numbers show that cases are declining even in surge states such as Kerala and Maharashtra. However, the GoI’s latest communication highlights the unpredictable nature of the virus.
