8 months on, 14% of healthcare workers yet to get COVID vaccine dose in JK

Srinagar: Even after around eight months since the COVID vaccination drive was started in Jammu and Kashmir, 14 percent of healthcare workers are yet to get their first dose of vaccine.

Official sources said that around 14 percent of health care workers are yet to take the first dose of COVID while around 38 percent are yet to get the second jab.

In Srinagar, of 15,492 health care workers, 11,557 have received their first jab while 7,157 have received both jabs.

“The percentage of health care workers who have received the first jab is 75 percent while 46 percent have received the second jab,” the data reveals.

“In Kulgam of 5,347 healthcare workers, 83 percent have received the first jab and 55 percent have received the second jab. In Shopian, of 1764 health workers, 84 percent received the first jab and 65 percent received third jab. In Bandipora, of 3170 health workers, 72 percent and 40 percent have received first and second jabs respectively.”

An official said that in Anantnag of 8,841 healthcare workers, 68 percent have received the first dose and 45 percent have received the second dose while in Baramulla of 7,545 healthcare workers, 90 percent have received the first jab and 65 percent have received the second jab.

“In Kupwara out of 7,761 healthcare workers, 68 percent have received the first jab and 49 percent have received the second jab. In Pulwama, of 3,767 health workers, 97 percent have received the first jab while 63 percent have received the second jab. In Ganderbal, of 2,903 healthcare workers, 84 percent have received the first jab and 63 percent have received the second jab and in Budgam of 5,914 health workers 85 percent have received first jab while 72 percent have received the second jab,” the data reveals.

It further states that similarly in Jammu, Kishtiwar, Doda, Udhampur, Kuthua, Ramban, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi 94 percent, 74 percent, 90 percent, 100 percent, 93 percent, 94 percent, 100.00 percent, 100 percent, 90 percent and 77 percent healthcare workers have received first jab while as 73 percent, 51 percent, 65 percent, 81 percent, 65 percent, 83 percent, 87 percent, 64 percent 63 percent and 54 percent have received second dose respectively.

“In the aggregate form of 1,22,235 health care workers, 105,017 (86 percent) have received the first jab and 75,463 (62 percent) have received the second jab respectively,” the data adds.
