Non-local shot dead in south Kashmir

Kulgam: A non-local labourer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Nehama area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.

An official said that a non-local labourer was shot at by unidentified gunmen in Nehama area of Kulgam district this evening and was declared dead by the doctors on arrival.

He identified the slain as Shankar Choudhary, a resident of Bihar.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam confirmed to Kashmir News Observer that he was brought dead to the hospital

A police officer said that the police party has rushed to the spot and ascertain facts about the incident.

Earlier in the day, a Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel was shot dead in the district’s Wanpoh area.

Official sources said that the militants fired upon a police constable near Shamford School, leaving him severely wounded.

The injured police constable was shifted to the hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries, they said while identifying him as Bantu Sharma, son of Nitin G, who was presently posted in Railway police.
