Srinagar: The Indian Air Force (IAF) held an air show over the Dal Lake on Sunday as the Srinagar skies roared with sound from the fighter aircrafts and chinooks helicopters, as they conducted their aerobatics exercise,

“As part of ongoing celebration commemorating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Air Force Station Srinagar will conduct an air show at Dal lake in Srinagar on September 26. The event, being organised in collaboration with the J & K Government, will be flagged off by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre,” a government spokesman had said earlier.

However, many in the city complained of excessive sound leading to panic attacks and palpitation.

“I have not been able to sleep and am feeling restless due to the loud noise. I was asked to take medication for a few days,” said Arifa, a woman in her late 30s battling anxiety.

Several others complained on twitter of the sound “bringing back memories from 2019”.

The display in Srinagar also included flypast by various aircrafts of the IAF. The paramotor flying and IAF’s skydiving team ‘Akash Ganga’ was in action at the show.

Besides, the symphony orchestra of the IAF was also held at the event.

“Ambassadors of IAF’, Suryakiran Aerobatic Display Team, will be performed in the valley after a gap of 14 years. The event, titled “Give Wings to Your Dreams” would also consist of a photo exhibition at the venue to highlight the history of IAF,” a government spokesman had said.
