New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday told the Supreme Court of India that polluted air from Pakistan affects the air quality in Delhi.

The government led by Yogi Adityanath said that the industries in Uttar Pradesh have no role to play in New Delhi’s pollution, reports said.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana was hearing a plea on air pollution in Delhi.

Advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for the UP government, argued that the state industries are downwind and the polluted air doesn’t go towards Delhi.

Kumar had blamed that polluted air coming from Pakistan’s side for affecting the air quality in Delhi.

To this, CJI NV Ramana quipped, “So you want us to ban industries in Pakistan?”.

The sugarcane and milk industries in Uttar Pradesh will be affected by the eight-hour time restriction, Kumar said.
