Srinagar: The employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) have called off their indefinite strike on late Monday night following an assurance from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

With the JK administration agreeing to all demands of the employees in principle, employees are currently on restoration work with immediate effect.

The administration has agreed to set up a committee to look into the issues pertaining to the problems that PDD engineers face.

A decision to hold the joint venture that it wanted to sign with the Power Grid Corporation of India was also taken. Now a committee comprising all stakeholders would make recommendations on way forward.

The administration has also agreed to ensure the employees working with the power corporations will get their salary in time.

JK has been experiencing a power crisis since the protests began on Friday, amid harsh winter conditions and the Army had been called to help.
