Ludhiana: A day after a blast in Ludhiana Punjab that killed one and left five others injured, the state’s Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday said the blast could be a political conspiracy to divert attention from the recent sacrilege incidents in the state.

Channi, according to reports, refuted allegations that the blast was the outcome of an intelligence failure.

“So far I have no knowledge about the involvement of ISI [Inter-Services Intelligence of the Pakistan Army] in Ludhiana bomb blast case. This could be a political conspiracy to divert attention from recent sacrilege incidents. There is no intelligence failure,” India Today quoted Channi as saying.

Channi’s statement came even as there were speculations that Pakistan’s ISI and Khalistani groups could be behind the Ludhiana bomb blast that killed one person.

Earlier on Thursday, Channi had hinted that the bomb blast was masterminded by the drug smugglers after a case was registered against a top-level politician.

He had also linked the sacrilege incidents with the crackdown against smugglers.

Quoting Channi, the report further said that person killed in Kapurthala lynching incident was not involved in sacrilege.

He said the police would register a murder case against the people who killed him.
