Srinagar: Kashmir-based students who appeared in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) held examination last year have expressed dismay over the ‘delay in results’ and have accused the Board authorities of ‘stretching the process unnecessary’.

The students of class 10th and 12th- Kashmir division (Summer Zone), have alleged that there has been a delay in their results as they were expecting results to be made public on the same day it announced for the Jammu division.

The results for the students of Jammu division were announced on February 4, 2022.

The examinations for the 12th class were conducted from November 9 to December 11 and for class 10th, the exams began on November 20 and the last paper was conducted on December 6, 2021.

Wishing anonymity, one of the students of the 12th class told Free Press Kashmir that the delay has caused a dilemma among the students. I hope results are being announced this week now,” the student said.

Another student said that she is not being able to decide about her future studies as she wanted to continue her education outside the union territory and the what she termed “unnecessary delay” caused by the Board authorities is causing disruptions.

The students from different areas of the valley- from both 12th and 1oth class, who spoke to Free Press Kashmir, have urged the authorities to declare their results in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Tassaduq Hussain Mir told Free Press Kashmir that there have been a lot of rumours about the declaration of results in the month of January, however, such is not the case.

When asked about the reason for delaying the process, the Director said, “we are on time and not late”.

He said, “the Board will declare the results before the opening of the schools in the Valley”.

He further said that they are planning to declare the results for both the classes in the coming days, most likely till February 15.

As per the Director, the Board always intends to declare the results before the opening of the schools. In the Kashmir zone, the schools either open in the first week of March or the last week of February after winter vacations are over.

Keeping in view the situation, “the Board tries to declare results for 10th, 11th, and 12th before the mentioned time”.

Pertinently, the JKBOSE declared the results of class 12 students of the Jammu division (winter zone) last week on February 4, 2022.
