Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons for their involvement in the kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor in Srinagar. The car used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In a statement, police said, “On 11,02,2022, Police Station Bemina received a complaint from a resident of Mansoor Colony Bemina that his minor daughter has been abducted by unknown persons.”
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 02/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bemina, and an investigation was initiated, it said.
Subsequently, a special team was constituted immediately which acted swiftly and recovered the missing promptly from TRC Srinagar.
During the course of the investigation, it surfaced that the minor was kidnapped by three persons and was assaulted sexually. Raids were conducted at several locations and all the three accused involved in the commission of crime were arrested, police said.
The police have identified them as Basit Ali son of Ali Mohd Dar, Irfan Ahmad Najar son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Fruit Mandi, Parimpora, and Firdous Ahmad Angher son of Gulzar Ahmad resident of Beerwah, Budgam.
As a part of the investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities were carried out and the minor was handed over to her legal heirs. Besides the car used in the commission of this heinous crime has also been seized, the statement added. Further investigation, in this case, is in progress.
