OPD services to be made functional at B&J hospital in few days, say officials

Cause of fire at B&J hospital being ascertained

Srinagar: The OPD services at Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla shall be made functional in the next two to three days while the cause of the fire is being ascertained, the authorities said on Saturday.

They said the top priority at present is to resume OPD and emergency services at the unaffected building of the hospital.

Principal GMC Srinagar Dr Samia Rashid told Kashmir News Observer that the cause of the fire is being ascertained.

Nonetheless, she refuted LPG cylinder blasts in the hospital as being attributed to a statement by a senior health official.

“The investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire is on while restoring the immediate patient care especially of shifted patients to various hospitals and resumption of OPD and emergency services at the unaffected building of Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla is the top priority this time,” she said.

Top health officials said that in 2-3 days, OPD at Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla shall be made operational.

“Efforts are on to make Emergency Operation Theatre also operational there in coming days,” she said.
