Four JeM, LeT militants killed, one arrested: police

Srinagar: Four militants, two each from Jash-e-Mohammad and Lashker-e-Taiba, were killed in three military operations in Pulwama, Ganderbal and Kupwara districts on Saturday, police said.

Also, a militant has been arrested alive, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Two JeM militants were killed in an overnight operation in Chewaklan area in Pulwama, he said.

The top police officer of Kashmir Valley said one LeT militant each was killed in Serch Ganderbal and Nechama, Rajwar area of Handwara in Kupwara. He said armed forces had launched joint operations at 4-5 locations last night.

The operations began after armed forces received specific information about the presence of militants in the said areas.

“Encounters are over in Pulwama and Handwara while operation at Ganderbal is going on,” he said, adding, “There is encounter (s) likely to place at other location(s) also,” the IGP tweeted.
