Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that why the Government of India (GoI) led by Narendra Modi is shying away to give credit to Congress’s vision, which had established a relationship with the then USSR.

“In the present scenario of the Russia-Ukraine war, India’s stand of keeping itself absent from the UNSC meet is considered timely and diplomatically proper. The relationship of India with the erstwhile USSR is well known the world over, after the debacle of US and NATO Forces in Afghanistan, Russia has been flexing its muscles the world over,” Mir said while reacting to India’s stand to remain absent from UNSC meet.

He said India, under BJP Government led by Modi sided with Russia due to weaponry and other trades with them, keeping the US at arm’s length obviously for unforeseen eventualities.

He asked the GoI why they shy away to give credit to Congress’s vision, which had established a relationship with the then USSR.

It was Indira Gandhi who was advised by her political advisor D P Dhar responsible for making a strong bond with Russia, Mir added and said the Congress Foreign Policy cultivated very effectively, but it was never recognized nor followed by the present GoI.
