Srinagar: An unidentified militant was killed on Wednesday in an ongoing military operation against militants in Nowgam area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, police said.
According to police officials, an unidentified militant has need killed in an ongoing operation. However, his identification is yet to be ascertained.
Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that militants involved in the recent killing of Sarpanch Sameer Bhat from Khanmoh are trapped in the operation.
Earlier on a specific input generated by JK Police, the joint team of Police launched a cordon and search operation in the area, police said.
As the joint team of armed forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Lashkar militant was killed in Charsoo area of Awantipora during the military operation.
