Baramulla: Five armed forces personnel including were injured in an ongoing military operation against militants in Baramulla district on Thursday.
Earlier, officials said a commander of LeT and the longest surviving militant, Mohammad Yousuf Kantroo was killed in the operation in Malwah area.
A police officer said all the five injured including four army personnel and a JK police personnel constable Basharat Ahmad, have been hospitalized, a local news agency Global News Service reported.
“Top LeT (militant) Commander Yousuf Kantroo killed in Baramulla encounter. He was involved in several killings of civilians & SFs personnel including recent killing of JKP’s SPO & his brother, one soldier and one civilian in Budgam district,” IGP Kashmir said in a tweet earlier. “A big success for us,” he added.
The operation in Malwah area of the district of the north Kashmir had ensued after a joint team of police and army launched a cordon-and-search-operation regarding the presence of the militants.
Three armed forces were injured in the initial phase of operation, police said.
