Anantnag: Amid a drive against the commuters driving their vehicles without installing High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs), the drivers in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are finding it hard to install the HSRPs as the concerned company is without any address for the past couple of days.

High-security number plates are number plates made of aluminum and are fixed onto the vehicle using a minimum of two non-reusable snap-on locks. The plate has a hot-stamped chromium-based 20 mm X 20 mm hologram of Ashoka Chakra in blue colour on the top left corner. A 10-digit permanent identification number (PIN) is laser branded on the bottom left corner of this plate.

HSRP also has a hot-stamped film applied on the numerals and alphabets, which has ‘INDIA’ inscribed at a 45-degree angle. This plate is also electronically linked to the vehicle where it is installed.

Scores of people had applied online to install High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) in the district but the make-shift office of the concerned company located in Bijbehara area is locked down.

The company in question is ‘Real Mazon India Limited’.

“I had applied for the High-Security Registration Plate and the company provided a receipt vide HSN Code 87089900 on 14 June this month. After a couple of days when I visited the same place, the office was locked and it is still locked,” one of the locals said.

Scores of people were seen outside the office of the said company but its doors are locked and employees are not reachable.

“Traffic Police seize the vehicles without HSRP numbers. We don’t know how to deal with the situation. We have already applied for the High-Security Registration Plates, but there is no address of the company,” they said.

High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs), are a new type of number plates made of aluminum, which are tamper-proof and come with two non-reusable locks. The vehicle identification number is laser encoded, which is easy to scan and difficult to tamper with.

ARTO Anantnag, Zubair Ahmed Latoo admitted that the employees of the company are untraceable. “I myself visited the make-shift office. It was locked and all the employees are out of reach as their cell phones are switched off. I don’t know any employee personally,” he said adding that vehicles without HSRPs are being seized and keeping it in view he has intimated the authorities about the situation.

Pertinently, earlier this month, police issued ‘final reminder’ regarding the affixation of mandatory High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on the vehicles by June 15.

“This is Final Reminder by Transport/Police/Traffic departments. Mandatory Affixation of HSRP to be done by 15th June 2022 on all vehicles,” police said in a statement, adding, “Failing this all such vehicles without HSRP shall be seized & RC may also be recommended for suspension.”

On Friday, a similar public notice was issued by the Transport Department saying the manual process for booking of HSRPs has been completely stopped henceforth and replaced by ONLINE mode.

“There is no need to approach any office of the Registering Authority or any other office for the said purpose as the ONLINE MODE is the only platform for applying for affixation of the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP),” the department said in a communiqué.

Applicants can visit https://realmazon.com for applying the affixation of HSRP. Owners seeking replacement, duplicate HSRP will also have to apply online on the said platform. In case of any difficulty in availing the online service, HELPLINE NUMBERS 9858469762, 7006116953, 9419188848 can be contacted during 9 AM to  9 Pm or email at [email protected].

In case, any owner uses any other platform or medium (including any other online portal), it shall be at his / her sole responsibility and risk, and the Department has nothing to do in this regard, the communiqué  mentioned. (KNT)
