New Delhi: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has clarified that the Tal Mahal does not have “locked chambers containing idols”.
It has also stated that no temple existed at the site where the historical monument has been built, Muslim Mirror reported.
The government agency maintained the same in an RTI reply sought by TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale. This comes after petitions were filed in courts alleging the existence of idols inside the Taj Mahal. Gokhale is a well-known RTI activist.
Archeological Survey of India tells me today that
(A) No temple existed on the spot where Taj Mahal is
(B) Taj Mahal does NOT have “locked chambers containing idols”.
Hope the courts impose costs on all mischievous petitions by BJP/RSS & media focuses on actual issues. pic.twitter.com/pDv4UUQ68J
