Two dead bodies found in two separate districts of Kashmir, say officials

Srinagar: Two dead bodies were found in two districts of Kashmir on Monday and police have taken cognizance of both incidents.

A male body was found along the banks of river Jhelum near Zirpara Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district today.

Official sources said that some passersby informed the police about the laying of the body along the banks of the Jhelum. Soon, they said, a police party rushed to the spot and recovered the body. So far, they said, the identity of the deceased could be found and the same is being carried out.

The body, they said, has been shifted to the mortuary at GMC Anantnag. “After completing medico-legal formalities and confirming the identification, the body would be handed over to his legal heirs,” they added.

An unidentified body was also spotted in Doodh Ganga stream in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Sources said that some passerby spotted the body in the water body this afternoon. “It is yet to be ascertained whether the body is of a male or female”, they said adding police have been informed. GNS)
