Shopian: Two militants affiliated with LeT were killed in a military operation in Nagbal village of Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Tuesday.
An official said that a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched a search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering the operation.
He said during the exchange of fire, two militants were killed who were affiliated with LeT and further identification is being ascertained and a search operation is underway in the area.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police, in a tweet said, “ShopianEncounterUpdate: 01 more terrorist killed (Total 02). Both the killed terrorists were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. Search going on. Further details shall follow”.
