Military operation against militants starts in south Kashmir, says police

Shopian: A military operation against militants started in Baskuchan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Monday evening.

As per police officials, a joint team of police, Army and CRPF  launched a search operation after receiving information about the presence of militants in Baskuchan area.

They said that as the joint team of armed forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said: “Encounter has started at Baskuchan area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
