Pulwama: A civilian was killed in Pulwama after Jammu and Kashmir police personnel’s rifle went off accidentally in the district’s Haal village. Police said the accused cop has been arrested, and a First Information Report has also been filed against him.

An official said that a rifle of armed forces personnel, who was part of a naka Party, went off accidentally in which one civilian received critical injuries. He identified the civilian as Asif Ahmed of Poterwal village of Shopian.

“Asif was shifted to a nearby hospital, wherefrom he was referred to SMHS Srinagar. However, he succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital,” he said.

A police official told Free Press Kashmir that the accused cop has been arrested and an FIR under registration number 79/2022 has been filed against him at police station Rajpora Pulwama. “We have taken up the further investigations in this regard,” he said.

Pertinently, a massive deployment of armed forces personnel was witnessed across Kashmir in view of Amit Shah’s visit to the Valley.
