Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a person for alleged kidnapping, and sexually assaulting a minor in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
The accused has been identified as Adil Shafi Hajam, 21, son of Mohammad Shafi Hajam, a resident of Syed colony, Nishat. A First Information Report under registration number 61/22 U/s 366, 376 IPC and 3/4 POCSO Act has been registered against him at Rajbagh police station.
“A minor girl of around 13 years (name withheld) was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by one Adil Shafi Hajam (21 yrs) S/o Md Shafi Hajam R/o Syed colony, Nishat. FIR No 61/22 U/s 366, 376 IPC & 3/4 POCSO Act reg. at Rajbagh PS. Special team was constituted & the accused was arrested,” police wrote on its official Twitter handle.
