Seven houses damaged, firefighter injured in twin fire incidents in Srinagar

Srinagar: At least seven residential houses were damaged in twin fire incidents in Srinagar district on Friday evening.

Joint Director of the Fire and Emergency Department, Bashor Ahmad Shah said that six residential houses were partially damaged in a fire incident in Gadood Bagh area of Habbakadal and one residential house was partially damaged in Bemina.

He said one fireman identified as Harmeet Singh was also injured in Habbakadal while dousing the flames, however, the cause of the fire was not known immediately.

Meanwhile, Srinagar police advised the residents to keep basic fire equipment handy as many fire incidents are being reported in the district.

“There are many incidents of fire being reported in Srinagar distt daily. Citizens are advised to keep basic fire safety equipments handy & also to only use authentic heating appliances. Legal action will be taken as per law against shopkeepers selling fake & duplicate equipments,” police tweeted. (KNO)
