Panel set up to select chairperson, members of JK Child Rights Commission

Srinagar: The administration of Jammu and Kashmir set up a selection committee for making selections to the post of chairperson and members of the Jammu and Kashmir Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

According to an order, the committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.

“In terms of Rule 4 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Commission for Protection of Child Rights Rules, sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a Selection Committee for making selection to the post of Chairperson and Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Commission for Protection of Child Rights,” reads the order.

The members of the committee include the Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department and Secretary, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

As per the order, the committee has been asked to ensure that the procedure prescribed in Jammu and Kashmir Child Rights Commission Rules, 2022 is followed while making the selection of the Chairperson and Member of the Child Rights Commission.

It has been also been asked to prepare a select list and submit recommendations to the administration for the appointment of chairperson and members of the commission.

The order also states committee shall prepare a waitlist of two persons for each of the posts which shall be valid for a period of three months.
