Srinagar: Kashmiri photojournalist Manan Dar was granted bail by a special court in Delhi on Monday.

He was arrested on 22 October 2021 for over a year and detained at Tihar jail.

Dar was arrested in the FIR registered in October last year under Sections 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, and 39 of the UAPA and sections 120B, 121A, 122, and 123 of the Indian Penal Code.

Earlier this month, CPJ in a report said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had accused Dar of working with militant organizations in violation of the anti-terror Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Dar has covered news and conflict in Jammu and Kashmir; he has contributed to Getty Images and the Pacific Press international photo agency, according to the news website The Wire.

Pertinently, three other journalists from Kashmir are among six journalists of India who are currently facing detention under various sections of the law, Asif Sultan, Fahad Shah and Sajad Gul.
