A DMK Minister has made remarks about Governor Ravi in the wake of the recent altercation between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and the state’s elected leader RN Ravi in the state parliament.

While speaking at an event, Shivaji Krishnamoorthy said, “Don’t I have the right to assault the Governor if he refuses to utter Ambedkar’s name in his address to the Assembly? Go to Kashmir and we’ll send terrorists so that they will gun you down there if you (governor) don’t read the speech given by the Tamil Nadu government.”

Furthermore, DMK’s Krishnamoorthy also went on to tell the Leader of Opposition (LoP) E Palaniswami that “a man is truly masculine only when he has sons.”

Former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir has responded on the issue via a tweet, saying that this threat is not expected from “friends in the DMK”.

On January 9, when governor Ravi of Tamin Nadu delivered the opening address to the state legislature, the disagreement between Stalin and Ravi came out in the open.

The written version of his address contained a paragraph that acknowledged Ramaswami Periyar, Dr. BR Ambedkar, K. Kamaraj, and CN Annadurai. The Dravidian model of government was also mentioned. During his address, the governor skipped over that section.

It is noteworthy that the Governor’s address always opens the Assembly’s first session. According to Section 176(1) of the Constitution, this clause is in effect. The state cabinet anticipated that the governor would deliver the prepared speech. While delivering his remarks to the House, the governor omitted some passages. Chief Minister Stalin objected to it.

The formal address prepared by the state cabinet would be on the House table, according to a resolution proposed by Stalin that was approved. As a result, the governor’s remarks in the assembly was not recorded. DMK supporters have been demonstrating against the governor ever since.

On Thursday, DMK and its allies also skipped a Pongal event that was organized by Governor Ravi.
