Another former JK minister’s property seized, outer wall demolished: Officials

Srinagar: The Administration on Saturday said that ‘state land’ measuring hundreds of kanals was seized including an orchard of a former JK minister Haseeb Drabu in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official said that ‘state land’ in hundred of Kanals was retrieved in Shopian district by teams of revenue officials.

He said that among the 100s of kanals of land, the Shopian administration retrieved 15 Kanals of high-value orchard land from former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu. The outer wall of the orchard was demolished by the revenue officials, he said. A video pf the demolition was also shared by the department on social media.

JK Admin’s zero-tolerance policy ensures the land is used for public benefit, the official said, adding that the drive against “illegal encroachment” will be continued.

Earlier on Thursday, a commercial structure belonging to Ghulam Hassan Khan, a former Social Welfare Minister of JK, was demolished in Main Chowk Shopian.

The demolition was a part of the “anti-encroachment drive to reclaim Kahcharai and State land from encroachers”.

The official had said that no one is above law and “such demolition drives will continue” in the district.
