Kupwara: A 39-year-old woman was critically injured after being attacked by a black bear in Lolab area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this afternoon.
Reports said that Shaheena Begum, wife of Abdul Ahad Shah, a resident of Gangbugh Lolab was attacked by a black bear while she was busy working in her kitchen garden. The woman sustained grievous injuries in the incident and was immediately evacuated to SDH Sogam for treatment.
A group of locals in the meantime rued the lackadaisical approach of Wildlife Department officials. “There are two black bears roaming in the human habitation for almost a week now and despite informing the Wildlife Department officials about this, no action has been taken so far”, they alleged.
