Rajouri: A military operation against militants has started in Kandi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

Police said that a joint team of armed forces including Jammu and Kashmir police, the Indian army, and the Central Reserve Police Force have started the operation in Kesari area of Kandi hamlet.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.

Sources told Kashmir News Observer that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

They said they are presumably the militants involved in an ambush on an army truck in Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian-Bhimber Ghati sector of Poonch, which claimed the lives of five armed forces personnel.
