Congress crosses majority mark in Karnataka elections

Congress workers distributing outside Delhi and Bengaluru officers to celebrate the early trends.

Bengaluru: In early trends as ballots for the Karnataka assembly elections are being counted, the Congress has passed the halfway point and is well ahead of the incumbent BJP. To establish the government in the 224-seat Karnataka assembly, a party needs to win 113 seats. Today will determine the electoral futures of many prominent figures, including JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar of the Congress, and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP.

At 36 locations throughout the state, the counting of votes started at 8 am. A hung Assembly in the state was predicted by the majority of exit polls, which also gave the Congress an advantage over the BJP, which was in power. The JD(S) anticipates a hung jury, which would give it the opportunity to influence the formation of the administration.

As votes were being counted, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was spotted at a shrine in Shimla. At the Hanuman temple in Shimla’s Jakhu, Priyanka Gandhi was “praying for the peace and prosperity of the country and Karnataka,” according to Congress leaders.

The Congress office in Delhi saw fireworks and laddoos were distributed outside Delhi and Bengaluru officers to celebrate the early trends.

Sweets were also distributed outside the office of state Congress chief DK Shivakumar. Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah was seen giving a thumbs up as the party led in 114 constituencies, while the BJP was leading in 73 seats, as per the latest Election Commission (EC) trends of counting of votes.

Party workers danced and performs dance form Bhangra as dhol played outside Congress headquarters in Delhi.

Congress leaders were seen distributing and eating laddoos. A Congress leader was also seen dressed as lord Hanuman outside the party’s Delhi office.
