House of LeT militant associate seized in Bijbehera: SIU

Anantnag: Police on Thursday said that State Investigation Unit Shopian seized the residential house of Lashkar-i-Toiba militant in Subhanpora Bijbhera area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In a statement, the police said that its SIU Shopian under the close supervision of DIG SIU Kashmir, SSP Shopian, DySP CIO SIU Shopian seized the residential house of a militantt associate in Subhanpora Bijbhera area of Anantnag district, after obtaining necessary sanctions from competent authority.

According to police spokesman, during the course of investigation in case FIR No. 22/2022 of Police Station Zainpora Shopian, under UA(P) Act, a residential house of Abdul Rehman Ganai, son of Mohammad Shaban Ganai, father of militant associate Zubair Ahmad Ganai of Subhanpora Bijbhera, has been found used by militants of proscribed militant outfit LeT.

Accordingly, process for seizing of property falling within the ambit proceeds of militancy was initiated by SIU Shopian under section 25 of UA(P) Act, he said.

The general public is once again advised to not harbour or provide shelter or extend logistics to militants and their associates in their houses or premisses, reads the statement.
