Body recovered from Jhelum in Srinagar, 2nd incident in day

Srinagar: An unidentified body was recovered from river Jhelum in Athwajan area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday.

An official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer that the body was found floating in river Jhelum and soon after a police team rushed to the spot.

“The identification of the body was being ascertained,” he added.

Earlier in the day, a body was recovered from Doodhganga canal in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar. The body was spotted by some locals who informed the cops.

“Soon after getting the information, a police team reached to the spot and recovered the body. Later, it was shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) for medico-legal formalities,” an official infomed earlier.
The official said that the identity of man was being ascertained.
