Video: Woman objects to Muslim bus conductor wearing skull cap in Bengaluru

A screen shot of the viral video shows a Muslim Govt bus conductor being questioned for wearing a skull cap with uniform.

Bengaluru: A video of a woman passenger taking objection to a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus conductor wearing a skull cap while on duty has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the woman is heard repeatedly asking the conductor whether he is allowed to wear the cap as part of his uniform.

When the conductor replied, saying that he has been wearing the cap for many years and nobody has objected before, the woman is heard saying that he should practice his religion at home or in the mosque, and as a government employee, he should not wear the cap while on duty.

When the conductor replied that there may be permission to wear the cap, the woman said that if he doesn’t know the rules, he should remove the cap and “follow the rules”. The conductor is seen removing the cap.

Replying to the viral video, a BMTC official said, “On Tuesday, we noticed the video being circulated on social media. The incident happened around 10 days ago. The uniform rules were framed decades ago. We do not have any comments to offer at this stage.”
