Demand new building be arranged to not affect studies

Gurez: Students and parents staged a protest after the house owner of middle school located in Sudikilshay village of Gurez’s Tulail asked school authorities to vacate the building.

The school has been operating out of a rented accommodation for several years.

However, for the last few days, students and teachers found the school locked from outside forcing them to return home.

“Despite having brought the issue into the notice of the concerned authorities a few days ago, students continue to face trouble as there has been no positive response from them as of now,” said Gulam Ahmad, a local resident.

He said that the owner of the school has relocated to another place and wanted the place to be vacated.

However, the administration has not taken any action in this matter so far.

The students and villagers in the area held a protest against the education department, demanding a proper school space.

A video obtained by a reporter shows students carrying their school bags and locals chanting slogans, urging the education department to arrange a new school.

An official said that efforts are being made to secure a suitable new location for the school so that classes can resume smoothly. (KNO)
