Provide admissions to students who couldn’t qualify board exams: SED to schools

Srinagar: School Education Department on Saturday ordered all government and private schools to provide provisional admissions to all those unsuccessful candidates who failed or couldn’t qualify one or more subject in board exams.

The directives were issued in the backdrop of complaints where the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) said some complaints were pouring in the department regarding denial of provisional admissions to such students.

DSEK in a communique to Chief Education Officers (CEO) of the region said, “Many schools affiliated with the JKBOSE are denying provisional admission to next higher class in favour of the candidates declared unsuccessful be it fail or reappear in board exams.”

“In pursuant to the previous notifications issued from time to time, all the candidates who have been declared unsuccessful that is fail or re-appear in one or more subjects, shall be provisionally allowed to continue their studies in next higher class till the declaration of Annual (Pvt) and bi-annual examination result 2023,” it reads.

DSEK however said that even after declaration of annual (Pvt) and bi-annual result, if any of the provisional admitted candidates are declared fail in one or more subjects, “Their admission shall automatically stands cancelled and the cases of only those candidates will be considered, who will be declared successful in all five compulsory subjects.”

“In view of the matter, I am directed to request you to pass instructions to all Hols of your concerned schools in the district to make wider publicity of information to all the stakeholders including student and teachers to provide provisional admission to these students in next higher class as per the provision government order and notifications issued by the JKBOSE,” DSEK said.
