Police seizes properties of drug smugglers worth Rs 41.85 lakh in Baramulla

Baramulla: Acting tough against the drug smugglers, police have seized properties of drug smugglers worth Rs 41.85 lakh in Baramulla.

“Baramulla Police led by SDPO Uri Shokat Ali-JKPS attached a newly constructed house value Rs 11.46 lakh (approx) and vehicle (Tata Sumo) bearing registration number JK05D-3680 value Rs 5.00 lakh (approx) belonging to drug smuggler namely Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, son of Nasar Din Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote after obtaining legal sanction from competent authorities. The said house was linked to case FIR No 12/2023 under relevant sections of law of Police Station Uri. The investigation proved that the said movable immovable property was raised/ used for Illicit Trafficking by the drug Smuggler,” police said.

Moreover, 1.17kg of contraband brown sugar and cash amount of Rs 25.39 lakh was recovered at the time of raid conducted at Kamalkote Uri from the drug smugglers namely Mohammad Naseer Bhatti son of Nasar Din Bhatti, Mohammad Rayaiz Khanday resident of Mohammad Shareef, Mohamad Pazeer Khanday son of Abdul Majid and Mohammad Fayaz Khanday, son of Mohammad Sharief, all residents of Madiyan Kamalkote.

General people of the area hailed the initiative of Baramulla Police with regard to attachment of moveable/immovable property which has been raised/used for illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers in the district, police added.
