Two militants attempt to cross LoC in Poonch, killed: Army

Poonch: Army on Monday claimed to have killed two militants after they attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Public Relation Officer (Defence) Jammu said that two terrorists who attempted to cross the border were engaged by the joint teams of Army and Jammu and Kashmir police.

“One militant fell down immediately, second militant tried to run back to Line of Control but he was also engaged and hit. He was seen falling down near LoC,” he said adding that operation is in progress.

According to officials, the contact was established by ambush in Garhi Battalion, around 2am. Two individuals were observed moving across the LoC in the general area of Degwar Terva. 

Similarly, on Sunday, a militant was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Kupwara police in Tangdhar Sector, the Kashmir Zone Police said. 

Police said that the militant was killed after he attempted to cross the border in the Amrohi area of Tangdhar Sector. 

“Army and Kupwara police, in a joint operation, foiled an infiltration bid by neutralising a terrorist on the LoC in the Amrohi area of Tangdhar Sector. Incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition were recovered,” Kashmir Zone Police had said in a tweet.
