Jabalpur: A man from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has been apprehended for the murder of his wife, who was  affiliated with the BJP in Nagpur.

The accused, identified as Amit Sahu alias Pappu, 37, asserted to law enforcement that the victim, Sana Khan, was his wife, and he took her life due to unresolved financial and personal conflicts, PTI reported.

Amit Sahu disclosed to investigators that he used a stick to fatally strike Sana Khan within his residence before disposing of her body in a river within the district.

Following his arrest in Jabalpur’s Gorabazar area, Amit Sahu confessed that Sana Khan was his wife and that he committed the crime because of monetary and personal disputes.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kamal Maurya shared that Sahu admitted to using a stick to end Khan’s life at his home and then disposing of her remains in the Hiran river near Meregaon village, within the jurisdiction of the Belkheda police station.

Efforts are currently underway to locate Sana Khan’s body in the river and its surrounding vicinity. The apprehended individual also provided information about an accomplice who was present during the incident, prompting an ongoing search for that individual.

The accused operates a roadside eatery known as a ‘dhaba.’ The investigation was initiated by the Nagpur police on August 1, and after tracing Khan’s last known location to a residence in Jabalpur, a joint search operation was executed by authorities from Jabalpur and Nagpur.

Sana Khan, a 34-year-old member of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s minority cell in Nagpur, had gone missing and was later declared dead.

Amit Sahu’s confession led to his arrest, along with two others, in Jabalpur, and they were subsequently transported to Nagpur for legal proceedings.

Khan’s disappearance prompted a complaint by her mother, Mehrunisha, who resides in Awasthi Nagar, Nagpur.

The initial complaint resulted in a First Information Report (FIR) being registered against Amit Sahu under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting with the intent to murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Khan left Nagpur on a private bus to meet Sahu in Jabalpur on August 1; she contacted her mother upon arrival in Jabalpur and subsequently went missing.
